What Is a PVC Pipe?
A Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe is a versatile plastic tube widely used for drainage, water supply and irrigation. It is known for its functional properties like high durability, flexibility, ductility, malleability and ability to withstand harsh weather conditions which makes it an ideal component for use in a range of industries and applications. Fusible PVC pipes are assembled using a thermal butt fusion process that involves a combination of heat and pressure to result in leak-free, fully restrained PVC pipes.

Fusible PVC pipes offer superior stiffness and durability compared to other plastic piping and eliminate the need for transition fittings. On top of that, they are resistant to corrosion and limit long-term deformation under soil load. If you're looking for fusible PVC installation for your project in BC, please contact Ironman Directional Drilling.

How Does Fusible PVC Installation Work?
PVC fusion work is done on-site by our technicians who use high-quality and industry-standard fusion equipment. We have the equipment to work on several different diameters of piping, and each fusion joint takes approximately 1.5 to 2 minutes per diameter inch to be completed. By fusing PVC directly together, it can be used in both pressure and non-pressure situations in various industries that work with water, sewer, electrical, agriculture and telecommunications.
Fusible PVC is a cost-saving trenchless method that has a variety of applications and functions. It eliminates virtually all gasket joints and provides for a larger flow area. By using our directional drilling methods, we also do not have to use traditional trench methods for installation. This limits the amount of disruption on-site during installation.
Fusible PVC also comes in various sizes, from 3 inches to 36 inches, with the following features:
-
Gasket-free joints and a fully restrained piping system that is bendable
-
Connects easily to standard waterworks fittings
-
Lasts a lifetime
-
Lower installation costs
-
Resistant to oxidation, scratches and abrasions

Benefits of Installing Fusible PVC
Fusible PVC pipes are one of the most popular options for trenchless installation. They are widely used for wastewater treatment, electrical and telecommunication purposes. Fusible PVC pipes are leak-free and less prone to sag as they have stronger walls. Also, their pull force capacity is better than high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes. Here are a few reasons why PVC pipes are popular among our clients in BC:
-
PVC pipes are scratch and corrosion-resistant.
-
They have high strength and durability.
-
Low cost and easy to install.
