When it comes to creating durable and reliable connections between different types of piping, electrofusion is an excellent way to create a strong, homogenous joint. This prevents infiltration from things such as tree roots and provides a strong joint that can hold up under high pressures. At Ironman Directional Drilling we have technicians certified in electrofusion in Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Surrounding Areas.
What is Electrofusion in Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and Surrounding Areas?
Electrofusion is a method used to join both medium- and high-density polyethylene piping. It can also be used on other types of plastic piping. Electrofusion uses special fittings that have built-in electric heating elements as a way to weld the joint together.
The method works by first cleaning the ends of the pipes that will be joined. They are then inserted into the electrofusion fitting and a voltage is applied for a fixed time. The built-in heating coils are then able to melt the inside of the fitting and outside of the pipe wall. This welds them together to create a strong, durable joint. Once the assembly is cooled a homogenous, strong joint is created. When properly made, the resulting joint is as strong as the original pipe and can withstand all the loads that are applied during routine installation.
If you need electrofusion in Kamloops, Vernon, Kelowna and surrounding areas it can be safely carried out by one of our technicians. The electrofusion control unit can even mark each junction with a permanent bar code and record of the procedures used regarding pressure, temperature, and time.
